| Our Red Sable, Swedish Vallhund, Stillmoor Odin's Gold aka "LARZ" is a valuable addition to our household, although whether ALL the cats would agree is debatable!!
His special friends are Premiers' Rymiat Ambrose and Cabrino. It is quite common to see Cabrino's head in Larz' mouth or them engaged in a wrestling match. When
we're out the cats and Larz are all in the lounge together but as we return we hear two soft, short barks and the cats scatter into the kitchen onto the tops of the cupboards.
Larz enforces tidiness as he hates anything out of place, only coasters, TV remote and cups are allowed on the coffee table, anything else is removed by him! He would make a very good 'Dog for the Disabled' as he barks to tell us when the phone is ringing and if we drop anything. He also alerts us if the cats do anything he thinks is wrong, Gerald is 'told' if his water or food dish is empty. I am called upon if he wants his back, chest or tummy rubbing! He accompanies us on most outings and is equally happy whether on a long walk or travelling in the car. We once took some friends with us to the Lake District, on arrival they said "It is a pity Larz couldn't have come with us" at which point Gerald got Larz out of his pen in the back much to their amazement. The only time there is any movement from him is upon our arrival home. He loves people, young children and all other dogs, whatever size, and relishes any admiration, which is VERY common when we have him outdoors. Modesty is NOT one of his virtues!! When we meet new people the reaction is normally "Oh! you have got a small Husky or small Wolf" but despite his double coat Larz is not adverse to enjoying sitting in front of an open fire, he just objects to us lighting it with matches and putting exta logs onto it !! |
